Our flagship product, Wiccle 1.0, is building up nice and steady towards release. Wiccle 1.0 is bigger and better than anything we've released before in every way, extended yet one step closer to our aim: Producing a definitive suite of Internet tools.
Since the release of iWiccle (which derived its architecture from the original Wiccle development builds), the Core has been extended a great deal to pave way for more across-the-board features and built-in support for more complex modules. The Admin has well over a dozen new areas (with a number yet to be added), and the Builder will ship with a number of new powerful features, along with a streamlined "Basic Interface" for easy common operations.
The greatest addition to the suite comes with a set of 20+ modules, some of them familiar from iWiccle, most brand new and coded for Wiccle 1.0 from a scratch. The following is a summary of modules that are either already completed or currently in works, grouped by theme. If time permits, I may throw in an extra module or two to make everyone extra happy.
![]()
Articles, Blogs and News
The old Articles module has been extended to include an "article series builder", automatic article division to pages, and more. The Blogs module is an improved version of the iWiccle build. The News module comes equipped with a portal builder that lets you weave your news items into a smooth news portal.
Audio, Gallery and Video
The Audio module lets your users build their own sound collections, and make them available for online listening or downloading. The Gallery module is a photo sharing module familiar from iWiccle --- now with bulk uploading. The Video module supports three types of content: upload and on-server video conversion (requires VPS) with flash player, AVI/MPEG/MOV uploads with WMP/QuickTime player (no VPS), and embedded videos (YouTube, etc.).
Auctions, Classified and Store
The Wiccle eCommerce bundle features three modules: Auctions lets your members set their goods up for sale, sporting a slick AJAX budding interface and features such as minimum bid, minimum rise, price reservation, etc. Classified is a traditional classified ads directory with user-to-user instant purchase and payment support. Store is a full-featured shopping cart application, extendable to unlimited parallel member stores within the module. Also: cross-module customizable buyer/seller profiles with feedback and reputation, support for PayPal, 2Checkout, and custom gateways (ask for more).
Chat, Dating, Members and Quiz
The Chat module features an easy-to-use chatroom with shared and private chat and chatroom support, also plugged into the Wiccle Toolbar at the bottom of the view. The Dating module is a multi-feature setup with extended profiles, powerful match-maker search, classified personals, and more. The Members module now comes with a number of extended features, such as support for premium members and separate profile sets. The Quiz module comes with a quiz builder, and works both independently and as a match-maker plugin for the Dating module.
Infobase and Support Desk
Infobase module is your tool of choice for creating custom content directories and databases, excellent for hosting documentation and other types of categorized information. Features unlimited nested categories, a WYSIWYG custom database table builder, data comparisons, and more. Support Desk is another must feature for a company / corporate site with online services, a classic support ticket system with ticket category, priority, and e-mail features.
Downloads, Forums and Polls
The Downloads module, with on-upload virus scanning (ClamAV/customizable) and option for separate member file areas, is a great tool for safe and smooth community file sharing. The Forums module takes the discussion board format beyond the basic threaded discussions of Groups, incorporating a number of key features from mainstream bulletin board solutions. The Polls module, a popular "opinion tool" along with Quizes, comes with a poll builder and associated discussions.
Events, Groups and Links
These three modules, already familiar from iWiccle, come with new features. The Events module now supports calendar and ticket purchases. The Groups module features a number of extensions, such as group member profiles, group photos, group articles, and more. The Links module can now also host separate member website collections.
Module Cloner and Module-in-Module
Module Cloner is a powerful extension in Wiccle Modules functionality: With the click of a button, you can create a copy of an existing module and rebrand it (for example, a copy of "Articles" as "Site Help", another as "Documentation", and so on). The improved Core also supports module-in-module-enveloping, meaning modules can now be woven into cool combinations: "Group Photos", "Group Chatroom", "Article Photos", "Event Audio", "Profile Photos", "Support Desk Downloads", and much more.
Stay Tuned for The Next Big Thing!

What about iWiccle? ⋅ Markus September 16, 2009, 01:14 AM
And before you ask... what about iWiccle?
Once Wiccle 1.0 is out, we'll begin integrating code for iWiccle 1.20, which will feature a great many of the new Core and Admin extensions, all of the bug fixes and patches, most extensions to existing modules, and at least one extra module on top of what was there in iWiccle 1.11.
And before you ask about the date... Keith is the man you need to bug for dates and times, and rumor goes he'll be announcing something in his next blog!

typo ⋅ Technojiva September 18, 2009, 01:47 PM
I figured you would want to correct a typo I found in your article.
There is a mispelled AND.
It is in the paragraph under Module Cloner and Module-in-Module.
