Tomorrow is the long-awaited day of Wiccle Web Builder. The next-generation juggernaut (?) CMS is rolling out in grand style, with more modules than you've ever seen before! Built atop the rock-solid core 1211 (also rolling out for iWiccle in a dual launch), it's the best thing internet has seen since the invention of Internet. And it's only been a year since we rolled up our sleeves and started the route from concept to code!

Below is a screenshot of what's a'coming (view full size) after the night is coded through to morning, packed in extra glitter with the new Crystal skin, a sparky face-lift we gave for the Pro theme (also available as an option) you'd be familiar with from the iWiccle 1.20 launch last month.

Wiccle Web Builder - More Modules

Now, truth be told, while I'm still packing things up, chances are a few of the modules above may need to wait for the next release (within two weeks), just for the fact that it's a massive amount of software to test in the warp speed schedules we are rolling on (along with dozens more features I have noted down but didn't have the time to code in right now --- yes we always have dozens of more feature behind the corner).

All the same, I expect Wiccle Web  Builder with 25+ modules will be a mouthful enough for you to keep digesting — until the next release... If we produce software faster than you can deploy, please don't hold it against us! =)

Can't seem to let go of this piece of software!!!  Always a bit more room to polish. I am actually Finnish here, but for some reason I'm being all Polish.

Gotta let go of the kids sometime Markus. You can't protect them forever... lol

Haha, yea I know! I am now at 26 modules together, a bit of layout dusting pending. Quite happy with some of the new additions I've put together over the last days. (The total sketch was at 31 modules, I've hacked up six or so new modules here for the release over the last two days, and scrapped four for later.) These are the base versions of each, and then we start beefing them up with more extended module-specific features. (It's almost silly how easy it is to make new modules at this point with our framework.)

I've also gone slightly off the map to create an auto-derive system to minimize template overlap, to keep especially dynamic template upgrades manageable when the amount of available skins begins to grow. I have also made all config files extendable, meaning John won't have a headache with his tweaks overwritten when we roll in new switches.

Login is now working with constantly rotating SHA1-hashes, which means that even if you had a supercomputer try to reverse the combined 40-char password/member hashes, it would only have the time between your logins to try to brute-force its way in before it had to start from a scratch again. Or something like that. In other words, login security level is on total overkill.

And a bunch more; I have no idea what all I've been coding here! I need to try and make some sense of it all to get some sort of feature report together too.

In the morning, I will wrap up the rest of the little remaining; need to go pick up that pint of beer the friendly chief at Coyote's (whose website we are incidentally doing) wanted to offer tonight, and then take a bit of rest. (Crashed two nights in a row at the HQ office corner...) Need to go serve the local customers now! Cool

Don't be Russian around though, you'll only Thai yourself in knots. Laughing

Haha, yes we try to not be Russian too much!

I've done my Chile out and have a bit more stamina to keep crunching, but I'm Hungary as hell so it'll be after lunch. Kenya wait a few more hours please, there's Norway it'll take much longer at this point; prepare for a Sudan release!

Tongue out

Hello all!

Checking in from Frankfurt airport. The time before my flight was too short, and I too tired to get everything all the way to launch point in good order. We did an in-house overview of the 26 modules that are ready for release withb WWB 1.0, and I have a couple of notes to implement to make it ready for prime time -- specifically in ways that help you monetize your website.

Overnight transit at airport, I´m back at homebase around noon, and will then wrap up the package for public release. Thank you all for the patience, I guarantee it´s worth every extra hour waited. And then we begin beefing up the modules with more and more features...

Markus, Are you back home and well? It's not like you to be inactive in this forum for this length of time?

Hi John,

Markus is back and well. He will be back to work during the course of the day here and we can count down then to the release of WWB. Cool

I am finally back home and well... I had a 12 hour overnight transit at Frankfurt airport, and topped off with a changed flight (45 minutes from security check queues to gate, leading to a missed flight) and delayed luggage, I reached home yesterday afternoon. Settling in and a good night's sleep behind, I'm now back around and in business (and even the right carpal tunnel seems to have toned down!).

It'll take me a moment or two more for me to wake up again and be in full speed, as it was a rather intense non-stop six weeks in Galway and frankly I feel like having run ten marathons in a stretch, but things are rolling again. Cool

The impatient are cordially invited to play around here while I am preparing the final stable, reviewing permissions across usergroups, snipping off few last quirks, and the rest of the usual endgame deal. Cool

Hi Markus!

I find your iwiccle and wiccle very interesting.

I have a few questions.

Is wiccle, both iwiccle and wiccle combined? I see members module, groups and so on. If so, I am confused. I don't see a forum for the iwiccle version I have as a demo. Why build iwiccle and then build wiccle with the same features. Will this wiccle integrate membership with iwiccle or visa versa?

When can we expect the most stable version? More towards the end of the year?

I am a freelance designer/developer that works mostly Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, Ning, Spruz, and Social Go.

I would love to go into depth with you about my access to over 6 million potental clients that could be very interested in using your product when it is finished. My email address is jp20966[at]gmail.com

Hi Rufncrus;

And thanks for the interest in our web software solutions!

  • iWiccle CMS Community Builder currently features a set of 10 modules. It's a free open-source CMS and Web 2.0 module package, fully rebrandable for 99€/lifetime. We periodically roll features from our commercial development work to iWiccle to let the community enjoy the latest goods.
  • Wiccle Web Builder has all the modules featured in iWiccle, and 15+ more, in particular modules for eCommerce and other ways of monetizing your site, along with some core architectural extensions. WWB is commercial, and only a free trial version exists; annual license for €299 and 10-domain lifetime for €999.

While these two suites are currently close enough to each other in terms of their core architecture, they are in the process of branching off to two specific distros of CMS software; iWiccle in several versions for the whole of social networking market, and Wiccle for business web and other high-end online solutions.

We incidentally also have a third mini-CMS-distro under GPL coming up momentarily. We aren't a one-product house. You may also want to look at an older blog I wrote in August 2009 shedding more light on our general business and development model, especially with iWiccle/Wiccle.

---

Our software is already remarkably stable; it definitely is good for production use after a year's solid track record in the cyberspace, and countless long hours of work invested into it. The 1.20 release was a landmark towards tidying up loose ends; the upcoming iWiccle 2.0 is close to being spot-on what we meant it to be. WWB still has a long way to go before it's all we want it to be (but it's still a lot more than most people can digest in a day), but then again we want it to be perfectly everything at once — so don't hold your breath waiting and just use our current versions. =)

If you have any concerns over our software, have spotted bugs, or have suggestions on features you'd like to see implemented soon, please feel free to mail us anytime, or drop a line at the forums here. (With regards to your note on millions of clients, could you please drop a mail to myself and Keith with a bit more detail to see what we come up with. =))

Once I get the desk cleared up with the most immediate of work and WWB is out in the wild, I will begin my work on cross-over information for users of Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla and the rest, coupled with a series of cross-CMS convertors. You'll be able to see straight away how the stuff in your old CMS would look like after a bit of Wiccle punch. Our entire Admin CP is also coming under the Builder Tool soon, and after that you are all free to design your alternative toolsets to match the environment you're familiar with.

Any more questions, please feel free to ask.

— Markus

Hi Markus,

Thank you for the detailed reply.

I primarily deal with design. I noticed your websites shown on this page http://www.wicclegalway.com/ resemble the default look of wiccle.

How much control will we have to make them look more like designs you might find on an advanced Wordpress or Joomla site design?

I also noticed there is not a built in spell checker or an option to spell check with your editor here in comments. Is this the also the case for editors in all areas of your software?

When can I expect to download a test version of wiccle. I would love to see what I can do with it's design.

Will there be a plugin/extension repository for it like Wordpress or Joomla?

I would like to collaborate more with you via email when your free, and understand completely your work load as it is today. I would not expect replies to my emails immediately. I also am unable to locate an email address to email you at.

There are no limits as such. Perhaps you'd like to post links to some advanced templates of your choice, and we can take it from there? You could do that in the Templates and Layouts thread Simon just started.

I also noticed there is not a built in spell checker or an option to spell check with your editor here in comments. Is this the also the case for editors in all areas of your software?

As you will have noticed, we currently use TinyMCE, a third-party WYSIWYG HTML editor. There are spell-checker plugins available, though I haven't looked into them yet. If this is something that's of interest, it shouldn't be a problem to add in.

Any other features you'd like to see in our products, please just make a note of them and make yourself heard --- we will be adding features in, and the only thing that expedites any particular feature is your bringing the issue up.

Anytime now (and intentionally just a little bit vague). It was meant to be out already by the time I was leaving Galway, but we simply ran out of time, and I've had to get atop my life in Denmark after my return here following a massive coding marathon. You shouldn't need to wait long now.

Will there be a plugin/extension repository for it like Wordpress or Joomla?

Yes, this has been on the roadmap for a good long while already. So far we haven't had that much indie dev enthusiasts creating mods, which would be in part to a bit more documentation pending from my side. So far everything we have produced in-house has gone straight into the products, so we haven't had extras floating around to justify a repository either.

Introducing Wiccle tech to webmaster/developer communities is one of the major off-code tasks I will be looking into over the months to come, and with that, repositories will naturally follow. =)

I would like to collaborate more with you via email when your free, and understand completely your work load as it is today. I would not expect replies to my emails immediately. I also am unable to locate an email address to email you at.

I try my level best to keep up with incoming mails, and I appreciate patience with slight lags. If it's anything that is of general interest, I'd appreciate if it could be kept in the forums here. For the rest, you can find our e-mail addresses on the Staff page --- looking forward hearing from you.
