Excellent. We need to set up a separate tutorial area / wiki for user-contributed tutorials soon.

Widgets are one of the easiest ways of bringing ads/other code into your page layouts without copy-pasting.

Widgets are also parsed for template script, so you can include an external file/script into the widget if you wish — for example if you want to code up in PHP a quick ad/banner rotation script to take this one notch further. =)
