here are a few suggestions on some of the most "Popular Forums" that I am sure users would love be able to intergrate into Wiccle some day

PhpBB

http://www.phpbb.com/

MyBB

http://www.mybboard.net/

vBulletin

http://www.vbulletin.com/

IPB

http://www.invisionpower.com/

SMF

http://www.simplemachines.org/

YaBB

http://www.yabbforum.com/

UseBB

http://www.usebb.net/

those are some of the many Bulletin Board Forums that would be nice to have some sort of an intergration of some sort inside the Wiccle Admin Panel.

Any thoughts?

Those would make a good list. Here's a few more. If you are into it, you could also find and post links to the integration instructions of each of these, so I can get an overview of how much work is involved with each.

Of the above, I have phpBB and SMF in my sights in particular, phpBB because it's the "the" open-source forum, and SMF simply because I like it, and use it myself on a couple of sites.

We will also be offering custom plugin creation service in the future for an affordable fee for people who want to integrate 3rd-party software not on our immediate dev list of integration.

My personal favorite is vBulletin. It's awesome. But - at least for me and my site - I'm not sure how it would be useful. I mean after having a blog section for people to write about specific topics and a live chat room (maybe with live video Cool), a forum would be overkill. I suppose having the option is a good thing but I prolly wouldn't implement it for my site.

my personal opinion is

if we are going to help, and the wiccle crew is going to start looking into forums integration

the forum that gets integrated should NOT be something a large armount of accessories..because..

its a board being integrated into a site that already has a good number of quality modules.

If you integrate a forum that has a gallery, vlog, rating section, etc, that defeates the whole purpose of the wiccle core build and its modules.

Also, if you integrate a forum that is as slimmed down as possable

this still leave room for the rest of your Wiccle installation to grow as markus creates now modules

how does that grab everyone?

Yes, it wouldn't make too much sense to start using two sets of blogs, galleries and so forth. Especially since our modules typically give you a lot more freedom in what you can turn them into, as they are integrated with the builder.

I wish SimpleMachines got their 2.0 into stable, it's a slick little forum I like a lot, and have been using as an alternative for phpBB which is a bit bulky in its recent builds. I used to use Invision in their 1.x series for a number of sites until they did the community turn-down with their 2.0 release and the sudden pulling out of free versions that followed in the weeks after. I'm not a big fan of their licensing models.

give me a couple days hommie ( Markus )

or at least til this weekend. Theres a few boards i can look at to see about "simpler" integration.

Not that its specifically needed to be simple but

if theres an issue of licensing or just the way the board works against Wiccle,

ill take a look at things and help ya out with my choices on "Pro's" as opposed to the cons

Sure --- anytime you get to look at those, it'll be valuable groundwork that'll make future plugin work faster.
