Not sure if it's my installation or if others are having the same problem - I am unable to upload images in the gallery module. I get the following error:

Warning: imagejpeg() [function.imagejpeg]: Unable to open 'uploads/gallery/thumbs/s400_gallery-1-1248840757_24484448.jpg' for writing: No such file or directory in /iwiccle_101/core/class_uploader.php on line 293

Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

Does the folder /uploads/gallery/thumbs exist?

Thanks Marcus,  thumbs did not exist so I manually created it. Tried uploading again - seemed to work OK (gave me the image to add caption etc). Now my problem is that the image does not show up anywhere - no record in album or gallery.

Do I need to create another directory somewhere to store the full sized image?

You also need to make the /thumbs folder writable (0777).

I suspect your FTP program didn't upload the empty folders reserved for sorting uploads by module?

While we're at it. If you want to configure the image sizes automatically generated, you can change $core['image_sizes'] and $core['save_original_images'] to control the auto-generated image versions, and whether to save originals (by default off to save space). You should then also edit the modules' blogs_config.php etc. files to make the skins understand what's been generated and what's available. (And if you change this, old images won't be re-resized. I'm looking at fixing up a tool for this, too.) In the future, all these controls will go into the Admin CP.

Changing /thumbs to 0777 did the trick. Having the same problem with all modules which have image upload. Will create directories manually as I go along.

I use Filezilla to FTP. My installation (on Vodahost) is a standard php/sql install - sorry I'm not technical enough to ascertain why the /thumbs directories were not uploaded/created.

Thanks for your help Marcus, it is much appreciated.

Glad it worked, John! Do you have the folders in the unzipped files from your iWiccle download? They should have been uploaded, not created. It shouldn't have anything to do with PHP or MySQL, it's either your FTP client or your FTP server. If it happens again, go over all settings to make sure you have nothing that says don't upload empty folders or something of the sort.

You're right Marcus. Looked through my unzipped iWiccle_101 folders - no /thumbs.

Downloaded a fresh copy via Wiccle.com - looked through the archive (using 7-zip) without unzipping - no /thumbs folder.

Downloaded a copy of Winzip and looked through the archive without unzipping - no /thumbs folders.

Could the problem be with the zipped download on Wiccle.com?

How odd! Because I just downloaded a copy, and they are there! As in the local zip files that I uploaded. Can anyone else confirm this?

At a quick google, hiding empty folders seems to be a known issue (or rather a series of issues), apparently a feature in some zip programs  Plenty of strange default behavior in many programs, go figure! (I'm using WinRAR.)

Just downloaded a copy of winrar and unzipped a new download - /thumbs are there!!!

Guess I'll be switching to winrar.

I've used it for ages... It's just always worked, while the other programs have given me headache of one sort or another.
