****Silly Question Alert****

What's the difference between Wiccle and iWiccle? I see them referenced independantly and have seperate tracs. I have an idea but figured I'd ask to get a clear answer.

thanks

The difference between Wiccle and iWiccle has been touched on for example here: iWiccle, Wiccle, Open-source, and our contribution. Wiccle is a full-featured premium software suite primarily for commercial and high-end sites. iWiccle is a free software suite tailored for online publishing and communities.

I think I've got it. 2 seperate, albiet similar, products. I'm assuming this site here is using Wiccle and not the iWiccle which I've downloaded already.

So when I purchase the ad free license does that mean I will have Wiccle or iWiccle without the ads or is that a totally seperate product/purchase all together?

Hi Footman,

If you purchase the ad free licence of iWiccle, it is life-time / only for iWiccle and yes iWiccle / Wiccle are totally sperate products / purchases. Next week Wiccle will be released at v1.0.

We are going to offer an upgrade path with iWiccle to Wiccle in prices, so if you buy iWiccle ads-free now, that amount will be taken off the price of Wiccle, which you still get to keep iWiccle at ads free while now having Wiccle.

Very, very soon we will announce the price details of Wiccle as well special discounted prices for our early adaptors with iWiccle plus iWiccle ads-free licence holders.

Bare with us a little longer, as we are in a major crunch to polish up Wiccle v1.0 along with the new designed Wiccle.com plus we will have a few examples of real world new Wiccle sites.

Wiccle.com is from an older version of Wiccle, the codebase has been extended so much, this site does not even represent the power in it any more but the new site will.

Keep those questions / comments coming, we do love hearing from our members !

The beginning of iWiccle & Wiccle is just about to start, all of this so far has just been a dip in the ocean of what we have planned for over the next 12 months!

Hey Keith,

Thanks for the indepth answer. Sounds pretty damn good to me actually. DON'T rush! lol We need a good stable product that we can count on. I can live without all the bells and whistles in the beginning. They can be added slowly with time.

So the plan of action...

iWiccle free download - check

Get the iWiccle ads free license...

See about upgrading to the full featured Wiccle...

Still have the ads-free iWiccle for another project... (that's just going to make me wanna do another site... lol)

My head is spinning with ideas. I'll have to write them down as they come up.

Thanks again guys :)

Yea, if you have iWiccle and Wiccle in your basket, you can pretty much take over the world. =) (If you ever wondered what the masterplan behind this all was.) I'd love to take all the time in the world for our releases, but unfortunately we also have economic considerations, as Wiccle dev is a full-time job for both me and Keith.

But yes, we see eye to eye on the no-shrills approach to software. If you start with an objective to develop loads of cool bling-bling, your framework is probably going to suck big time. Our priority is to provide a good working modular platform atop which people can add their bling-blings, and when there's spare time, we can tinker with bells and whistles to make everyone in mister fancypants league satisfied. =)

excellent guys - By the way I just purchased the iWiccle adsfree license. Now I have to see if the upgrade to the full Wiccle is something I can swing or makes sense for me at this time. The concern I have is all on me though as my site hasn't even launched yet and I have no way of knowing if the much larger investment will be worth it in the long run or just a waste of capital on my part.

But I do have a few weeks until November 12 to make up my mind. Well, at least to take advantage of the discount. Maybe my site will blast off by then - LOL

Congratulations on the occasion, and welcome onboard! =) As you saw in the other thread, we have plenty of fair options available whenever your site comes to a point where you may want to switch over to Wiccle Web Builder from iWiccle. (Easy & quick conversion.)
