I feel community builder is powerful and i would like to use it for one of my projects but Id like to know if we can monetize by selling ad space. Does anyone know if this is possible with Wiccle community builder?

Yes you can sell ad space by using the banner system and charging people directly, inserting google ads or by members paying a subscription for memberships. There is no limit to how to you can monetize your site with WCB.
