How long is the email sent out for verification good for? Can that time be changed? The email doesn't state any expiration time. How can I add that to the outgoing verification email?

thank you Smile

Currently there is no option for setting the expiry. However, you can of course log into the admin panel and purge pending registrations in bulk from the link at Admin front page whenever you see there's a bunch of outdated registrations lounging around. Will add in an option for this. (If you need it now, no big deal to add it into 1.21 as the files are still open here.)

Just curious is all. Someone joined the other day and couldn't use the email link due to the setting I had for guests as mentioned on the other thread. Then I changed the setting, and had him try again and he got an error message saying the link was no longer good. So I had to delete his profile and have him re-register.

He's a friend of mine helping out with the site.

So the more important question is: What is the expiry time so I can add that to the registration email verification that they get. I'm assuming it's 24 hours.

So he got the "Your activation link appears to be invalid or outdated" message? (Or "Your activation link is broken or incomplete"?)

There is actually no time-based expiration defined. However, the link is one-use-only. Did his account still show as "validating" at the time he received this error? In either case, you didn't need to delete it --- you could have just validated it from the admin panel.

On a related note, one thing that will invalidate your activation link is if you try to use "password recovery" before you activate your account.

Aaaah... I understand. It became invalid because he tried it once and didn't work because of my setting. Understood. However he did get the "Your link appears to be invalid or outdated" message.

Yes, his username did still show "unconfirmed" in the admin panel. I know I could of activated him myself, but I wanted him to try the registration process from scratch and have him report back to me his take on everything. Thus I asked him to re-register from scratch. I thought there was a time limit on the use of the activation link.
