There will be an announcement in the coming days that is fairly major to Wiccle Community Builder and Wiccle Web Builder. We want to give more flexability, choices and keep things pretty straight forward + simple. Watch this space.

That's great news..

However, it would be helpful if you can give us a hint of what is going to be changed or coming new so that we can plan our current customization plans.. It may happen like we spend money on doing something that is already in your pipeline for the next update...

So the big news, which will appear later in the News section of the new release coming.

To improve development cycles with faster updates, more features, more options for everyone regarding licenses and maximum flexibility across the board.. we need to make a major change to WCB & WWB.

Wiccle WorldsWiccle Web Builder will in the new year cease to exist
and the Wiccle Web Builder unique modules (store, auctions, classifieds, etc) will be merged into Wiccle Community Builder. We are basically merging Wiccle Community Builder and Wiccle Web Builder into just one platform.

So how will this affect Wiccle Web Builder current users? There is no negative issues with this move, you still get all your modules, everything as before, the only differents is the name of the system will say Wiccle Community Builder instead of Wiccle Web Builder and you get much faster updates than before as we can focus on building this platform up better. You keep all the benefits as before as will continue into the future. We will be supplying all WWB users with a direct Upgrade Patch to the next version that will bring everything under one system.

wcbWiccle Community Builder users will be able to upgrade to the past WWB Fusion & Enterprise Licenses and get all these extra modules without having to change system. To add extra flexibility to the new WCB platform, we will allow unique WWB modules to be brought on a per module basis. If you only want WCB with it's current module set but also just need the Store Module but none of the other WWB modules, you can pick this. Otherwise you can get all the WWB modules with the Fusion License.

The new license structure will follow something like this:

  • No Trial periods, WCB will work without a Free License key, however we will still issue free license keys with extra benefits to users who do sign up to Wiccle.com.
  • WCB Ads-Free will remain as is and all the modules that you get with the current 2.0 will continue like this into future.
  • WCB Fusion License will replace the old WWB Fusion License and you get all the unique WWB modules as is.
  • WCB Enterprise License will replace the old WWB Enterprise License.
  • Module Add-ons, you will now have the ability to just buy each unique WWB module on it's own if you don't want the Fusion or Enterprise Licenses. Modules are:
    •
      • Store Module
      • Auctions Module
      • Classifieds Module
      • Support Module
      • Dating Module
      • Portfolio Module
      • Help / Answers / Guestbook Modules
      • New Booking Module

Prices of each module will be announced later on but they will be cost effective compared to anything else out there.

We are working on all things right now, including the planned feature updates to WWB modules like Store. This new version that completes the merger will be called Wiccle Community Builder 2.5

We are very excitied about this change as we can deliver faster updates with loads of new features and remove any confusion for new users on which system to pick from, easy to upgrade paths, etc.

If you have any concerns or issues, email us at:  support @ wiccle.com

This transition will be smooth and will only enhance your Wiccle system platform as well experience.

In the new year 2012, we are also going to do a major rewrite of the Wiccle Core & Framework with vast improvements everywhere from the Template section to Builders to Modules to every part of Wiccle. Including to make WCB 3.0 the first feature packed HTML5 CMS in the world. More details of this major rewrite will be released in January but it will take us around 4 months to complete at the very least as it's a massive change. The Wiccle Core / Framework has not been updated much since 2009, it's time to crack it up open and make long overdue improvements from our beta periods.

This concludes the major news announcement, stay tuned for more and feel free to ask us your questions here.

Will there be a smooth upgrade path from wiccle 2.0 to wiccle 3.0 without losing custom settings and design changes because I was planning to take "Wiccle Custom Template Integration Service" coz I want a little modification in the current template designs.

Shall I continue with my plans to develop and modify WCB 2.0 or shall I wait for another 3-4 months for wiccle 3.0 to come? Once the community is live it would be very difficult to carry out the changes and there would be a little room for any error!!

Also, are there any new templates in the pipeline to be released in few days with different layout and styling than the present set of templates??

There will most likely be a migration to version three rather than an upgrade.  We have some major overhauls planned and many of the current structures will be upgraded and rebuilt.

As far as migrating data, it will be possible to migrate your userbase and content, but the design will need to be reworked into the new template stucture.  We are planning on simplifying the template system so it shouldn't be too difficult to rebuild your current template for version 3.

I would suggest you begin your site with version 2 and when the time comes to upgrade our team will be available to assist you in updating your system.

Also version 2 will not be neglected.  We will be rolling out updates and fixes for the current version to make it more stable and address any issues.  These updates will be as simple as uploading a package and visiting a url.

That is indeed my prime concern, the design changes.. I was looking forward to take "Wiccle Custom Template Integration Service" for a custom design for my community, will it be possible then to transfer the same customized template to WCB 3.0 when the version is released?

When should we expect the version 3.0 to be released for public? Any projected timeframe?

Based on many, many messages we have decided to break up the re-write into small parts spread over the year to allow as smooth as possible updating your websites from the old core to the new one planned instead of one single massive release. :)

The first step is the news that the next update is the "merger" of WCB & WWB into one massive system, then slowly we will introduce the core re-writes over many updates. In a few weeks from now we hope to get this merger update release called WCB 2.5

Wiccle.com will also get some changes soon to reflect all of this as well improved license options / features / license management system for everyone.
