My Wish List/Needs/Desires for my Wiccle site

Let me premise this blog post by saying that in writing the following I am not saying Wiccle does these things or not, in a good way or not etc. It's simply an accounting of my thoughts, right or wrong, for my future site.

Disclaimer out of the way I'll try to seperate this by sections and each section will be in a different reply. This is by no means an final list, as I'm sure what I don't know far outweighs what I do know. So in the end this represents what my mind envisions my site to have sometime in the future, as limited as it may be, I'll reserve the right to ammend this as time progresses (and I learn stuff).

Lets start with the Members interface, or basically what affects the members experience on my site.

  • A login/splash page where the surfer finds some banners/advertisements/information etc about my site. Basically a sales page that also serves as the login/registration page. This page will show when they first navigate to the site AND when they log off as well. This should be a page where I can adjust the contents fairly easily with different promos etc. Perhaps even somekind of rolling photo album of some current members or something along those mines.
  • The members profile section
    • I do need the ability to have a "couples" designation along with the male and female. That couple designation should also have the ability to then describe each one individually, just like an individual would. This will include the option of choosing the sex of each person of that couple. M/F - F/F - M/M or even more. People are into some very different things so I need to give them the flexibilty to describe themselves as much as possible.
    • A place for members to "validate, authenticate" etc other members they know.
    • A way for each member to "tag" another profile as Friends (which needs to be accepted by the other profile), Remember (which just basically bookmarks profiles they like and might want to contact in the future)
    • What are their peferences for friends, likes and dislikes, hopes and desires etc. This can be a combination of essay boxes where they can write a short description and most definitey a list of preset choices (made by me in the admin area) that are quick bullet points. These choices would be "searchable" by others.
    • Memebrs can have photo albums and mark them public and/or private. Thus giving them some control over what other members can see. These photos can then be share within the site, via intrasite emails to other members or even in the chat room where when they add a photo to the chat room a link might pop up for others to click and a shadow box might open ontop of the chat room box with the photo and a way to close the window as well. This gives people the choice as to whether or not they want to open the pic thats attached.
    • Members can have a video album just like the photo album listed above, perhaps without the ability to add them to the chat room.
    • The members display page that other members see can see or have access to in some way, the photos, videos, likes, dislikes, wants, desires, friend list, any events attending etc.
  • Chat Room
    • Video chat as part of the chat room. The member has a choice somewhere they can decide if they want to show themselves live during their chat session. This would be part of the chat room and not a seperate "cam show" thing, which is still a good sepearate option as well.
    • On the side of the actual chat post will be clickable thumbnails (with the profile pic they've chosen as their main profile pic) of each member in the chat room that can lead others to their profile.
  • Email system
    • An external notification when an internal email is received. This means when someone gets an internal email from another member, they receive a notice in their personal email notifying them of the new message so they can go log on and read it. Their personal email, which they sign up with, is never shown to other members though. It's just used as part of the notification process. Admin will of course see everything in the backend.
    • An auto responder feature might be nice. Members can write a general response and have it auto respond to other members. Maybe even have the choice who gets the auto response.
    • The ability to block certain groups and/or people from sending an email. If a certain person or group is block they will get a popup notification when they try to contact them that they're not able to email this member. I can change what that notice says somewhere in admin. Just to make it polite....

I think that's about all my brain can spill right now. I'll get together the thoughts about the other sections in a future entry.

Cool

Excellent stuff. As you noted, some of it is already built in, while some of it is still in works — but none of it off our general roadmap.

I've been meaning to write a feature blog on upcoming Wiccle tech that would also cover much of the new stuff noted in your blog, need to get around to that sometime soon.
